#BlindDate

In collaboration with the alliance Danish Design Makers and Målbar, ORGATEC has launched the #BlindDate format. The innovative concept promotes a creative process that is free from preconceptions and redefines collaboration in the design industry.

Sustainability and resource efficiency
Excessive use of resources and rising carbon emissions currently pose major challenges for the interiors industry. The aim of the #BlindDate project is therefore to examine reduction in the context of resource efficiency, renewable energy sources, environmental protection, the circular economy, behavioural change and innovation. The objective is to find innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

New format aims to tackle preconceptions
In the new #BlindDate format, designers and companies remain anonymous until they reveal their identities at ORGATEC 2024. Leading brands will submit anonymised briefs, which the designers will then implement. This approach eliminates preconceived ideas and ensures that the focus is entirely on the design’s form and functionality.

Danish Design Makers
Danish Design Makers is an alliance of designers with different nationalities and backgrounds, but all with strong ties to Danish design culture. For over a decade, the initiative has promoted innovation and a critical dialogue in design, making it the perfect partner for ORGATEC 2024.

Målbar
The Danish company Målbar aims to make sustainability measurable and will also be participating in #BlindDate. The development of the products described in the briefings will be supported by tools for calculating the carbon footprint, highlighting the authenticity and professionalism of REDUCTION.

The calculated climate footprint of each design is annotated and compared with other obvious design choices to show perspective.
