#Bauspiel - Find – Analyse – Synthesise – Build
The project: Conversion in existing buildings
BAUSPIEL is an innovative conversion project based on the example of the German Sport University Cologne. The art collective freeters from Bonn and SSP from Bochum are working hand in hand to redefine the emotional and social dimension of architecture. The focus is on the “form follows feelings” approach - a creative process in which old elements from an athletics hall are transformed into unique spatial objects and furniture for students.
Sustainability Meets Creativity
This unusual cooperation demonstrates how existing buildings and materials can be fused into something entirely new. The interdisciplinary collaboration between architects, craftsmen, and artists opens up new opportunities for creativity and exceptional solutions. It shows that reliability, fun, and humor are not contradictions when it comes to sustainability.

The Experiment at the German Sport University Cologne
The German Sport University Cologne embraces a process-oriented experiment with this project. An entire floor of an institute building is being transformed into an inspiring space for students. Through the reuse of elements from the old athletics hall, the university’s core theme of "movement" is reinterpreted and made tangible for students and visitors.
freeters – Art Meets Workspace Design
The art collective freeters from Bonn sets new standards for creative work environments. Using their "Treasure Hunt" method, they transform found objects, recycled materials, and discarded items into dynamic, multifunctional workspaces. Each project is a custom-made piece that seamlessly integrates sustainability and art. Past materials are reimagined into forward-looking spatial concepts for the future.
