The double opportunity - The best building material is the existing building.

Climate protection is more important today than ever before, which is why our consumption of resources must be rigorously reduced. Isolated new construction projects with particularly innovative and sustainable concepts are not enough to achieve the goals we have set ourselves. Instead of demolishing and building new buildings, we need to transform and develop the existing building stock sustainably. These processes reduce emissions precisely where more than 90 percent of them are generated.

In the lecture, architect Thomas Schmidt will present a range of solutions for existing buildings and describe the strategy of sufficiency in combination with efficiency and consistency for the coming years using the Building DNA® and the SSP sustainability method GreytoGreen®.
